Hi, Laura Finley here! I am a 22 yr old [proud] Buffalonian, a recent graduate of St. Lawrence University, and an easily-burned-sunscreen-enthusiast redhead. I graduated with a major in Sociology and minors in Psychology and African Studies- I love all people, all places, and all adventures. I’m excited to serve in the Mountain Valley School, where I get to hang out with some super awesome kiddos and be a part of the beautiful town of Saguache, CO!. Hi everyone! My name is Surya. I’m serving in Mountain Valley School in Saguache Colorado. I’m from the east coast and have always been drawn to big cities. Driving into Colorado last year I realized there would be no doubt that I would fall in withlove rural Colorado. I studied documentary filmmaking in college like gardening, hiking, running, climbing and exploring the surrounding states. Getting kids outside and active is such a great part of serving San Luis Valley youth. There’s so many great national parks to take kids to in Colorado that engage kids of all ages. The Sandstone and red rocks in Arizona and Utah absolutely gorgeous. I hope to make some trips down to Arizona this year.

During my free time here in the beautiful Arkansas & San Luis Valleys, you’ll be likely to find me scoping out local thrift stores, hiking, snowboarding Monarch Mountain, and attending concerts. This year, I hope to learn a lot about myself and can’t wait to immerse myself in the ColoRADo culture!

After college, I wanted to join the Peace Corps but I figured AmeriCorps would be a perfect first step. I am eager to get to know Colorado and hopefully learn more about myself along the way in San Luis Valley!
